Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday visited jobless Gurdaspur woman Gurpreet Kaur in the hospital on Saturday to inquire about her condition after she had set herself ablaze outside the official residence of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday here.

She had claimed to be unemployed for almost 18 years and trying desperately to meet the CM to get some work. Bajwa said the state government had become insensitive to the people's problems. "Gurpreet's is an extreme case of desperation but the government also has failed to implement its promises," said the state Congress leader.

He was accompanied by SAS Nagar legislator Balbir Singh Sidhu and former legislators Surinder Pal Sibia and Joginder Singh Mann.
