Banned drugs, used syringes seized from MDU hostel

The hostels of Maharashi Dayanand University (MDU), which were accorded A-grade in July last year, are slowly gaining the notorious reputation of den of drug-abusers. Police on Sunday seized some banned drugs, used syringes and detained a 24-year-old youth for taking drug (FORTVIN) shots in hostel -7.

As per details, varsity authorities were concerned for quite some time finding used syringes. To unravel the mystery, the authorities constituted a student committee to keep an eye on suspicious elements.

On Sunday, when an outsider came and locked himself in the hostel bathroom, a raid was conducted by the hostel authorities. Police was also informed, who took the student with them.

Talking to HT, MDU chief hostel warden, Prof SS Chahar confirmed the development. He said that security has been beefed up at the entry gate of hostels to keep an eye on such elements.

PGIMS, police station in-charge MI Khan said that they have registered a DDR (daily diary report) and had conducted a raid in the presence of district drug controller on a chemist shop, but did not find anything objectionable.
