Former railway minister and member of Parliament from Chandigarh Pawan Kumar Bansal on Saturday assured slum dwellers that apart from allotting 8,448 flats in Dhanas village, more than 25,000 people would get houses soon.
While addressing a rally at Colony No 5, Bansal said under the rehabilitation scheme, a survey had been done but objections were raised on the eligibility of some applicants by the administration. Those objections would be removed and all slum dwellers would be given houses as per the scheme.
“Residents of Colony no 4 and 5 will be shifted to the newly constructed houses at Dhanas village,” he added.
Bansal said the ordinance for food security bill had already been passed by the Congress government and it would benefit 50% of the city residents.
Commenting on the BJP bike-car rally held on Friday, Congress spokesperson Pardeep Chhabra said it was flop show and the thin presence at the rally showed that people had faith in the Congress and its leaders. The BJP cannot misguide the people of the city on false propaganda.
The Congress rally at Colony No 5 was organised by area councillor Harphool Chand Kalyan was attended by local Congress leaders Ram Pal Sharma, Pawan Sharma, HS Lucky, Gurpreet Gabi, Yadvinder Mehta, Davinder Lubana, Poonam Sharma, Shashi Shanker Tiwari, Amadeep Saliach and Pardeep Bhardwaj.
