“The whole family of former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal is into corruption and they formed companies to channelise bribe money,” alleged Satya Pal Jain, former Chandigarh MP and BJP leader.
Releasing documents about three companies where Bansal's family and relatives are directors during a media interaction at Press Club, Chandigarh, on Friday, Jain questioned the former railway minister about the sources of income of these companies.
Vibgyor Design Private Ltd
According to Jain, in the Vibgyor Design Private Limited firm based in Sector 28, Sandeep Gandotra and minister's nephew Vikram Bansal are directors, while Vikram Bansal, nephew Rajesh Bansal and Sandeep Gandotra are shareholders. Jain pointed out that surprisingly as on March 31, 2012, the company had no fixed assets.
The company has given loan of Rs 5 lakh each to Pawan Bansal's wife Madhu Bansal, son Amit Bansal, Rs 8 lakh to son Manish Bansal, Rs 15 lakh to wife of Sunil Kumar Gupta - Pooja Gupta, Rs 33.5 lakh to Singla Constructions that is run by relatives, Rs 6.5 lakh to nephew Deepak Garg and Rs 23.4 lakh to nephew Rajesh Bansal.
Bansi Raunaq Energy Group Ltd
Similarly, Sector17 based Bansi Raunaq Energy Group Ltd has Sunil Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Bansal, Vikram Bansal, Amit Kumar Bansal and Manish Bansal as directors. On February 25, 2006, the firm received unsecured loans of Rs 10 lakh from Amit and Manish. On March 2, 2006, the company received Rs 23.5 lakh from Vikram as unsecured loan.
On Solan-based Theon Pharmaceuticals, which came into scanner after it came that Gupta who was one of the directors in Canara Bank got a loan for it, Jain disclosed about appointments of family members and how their salaries continued to rise. As per Jain, Manish, who was one of the directors of the firm, was employed as legal advisor of the company at Rs 10,000 per month in 2007. The salary was raised to Rs 65,000 in 2009. It was further raised to Rs 1.12 lakh from January 2012 onwards.
Madhu Bansal was appointed whole-time director of the company with effect from April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2015, at a salary of Rs 50,000 per month. Her salary was revised to Rs 2 lakh per month in January 2012.
In the statement of assets and liabilities of Pawan Bansal, it has been shown that Madhu gave Rs 17 lakh loan to Theon and has shares worth Rs 27.1 lakh. She also received Rs 16.26 lakh dividend for 2009-10 from Theon.
Jain questioned that she was getting salary and dividend, but was also offering loan to the company. Amit Bansal was appointed as managing director without any remuneration for a period of five years from April 1, 2011, but his foreign trips up to Rs 2 lakh will be reimbursed.
Shaina Bansal, daughter-in-law of Bansal, was appointed whole-time director in 2010 till 2015 with Rs 1 lakh salary per month. Her salary was revised to Rs 2 lakh per month in January 2012.
Puneet Bansal's remuneration as whole-time director in 2012 was revised to Rs 1.46 lakh per month salary. Another daughter-in-law, Monika Bansal's remuneration was revised as whole-time director in 2012 to Rs 2 lakh per month.
