A team of the Panchkula vigilance bureau led by DSP Rajpal Singh arrested Ravinder immediately after he reached the bus stand and Ajay handed him over the packet containing the money.

Rajpal said, “We caught Ravinder Kumar while he was accepting `10,000 from Ajay. We received a complaint from Ajay that all accused were demanding their share from him in order to clear his payment cheques. The supervisor had to give him a cheque for `33,320 and in lieu of that he demanded `10,000. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against all eight accused, including Suman Lata, secretary, Barwala Market Committee.”

Ravinder will be produced in the court on Tuesday.
