Students of Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University (PU), continued with their protest outside the college on Wednesday.

The students alleged that the administration was not ready to give any writen assurance on their demands. They stated that they would decide about the future course of action after a meeting on Thursday morning.

Four youths and one policeman had suffered injuries in the clash reported outside the college on Tuesday afternoon after the police tried to forcefully remove the dental sciences students and workers of three student groups from the college gates.

The police tried to forcefully clear the gates where they were sitting which resulted in the clash. The police had also used mild cane charge to disperse the crowd. Later, the cops rounded up eight youths, all of them outsiders, from the site of the protest.

On the other hand, the authorities concerned maintained that all their ‘reasonable’ demands had been met.

The students have demanded more time to complete their assignments, provision for lab material, among other things.
