The way to a woman's heart is through jewellery. Delhi-based jewellery designer, Divvya A Bhasin, agrees with the theory, while enlightening us about her belief that all women of the world are inherently beautiful.

Divvya's contemporary jewellery in polki, gold, semi-precious and precious stones along with fashion designer Gaurav Katta's collection focusing on Rajasthani gota, is being showcased in the city at Kidsown, Sector 17, on August 24 and 25.

Divvya (46) says, "I studied jewellery designing to perfect my skills. My natural flair for designing was enhanced and formalised when I studied at the Gemeological Institute of America, Santa Monica, USA, and did my course in jewellery design, bench technique and grading of stones in 1993."

Ever since, Divvya has also been travelling, doing trunk shows and participating in exhibitions internationally. From the past five years, she has been running her design studio in New Delhi.

Talking about her collection on display in Chandigarh, she says, "It includes layered necklaces, a variety of earrings - tradiational jhumkis, elegant cocktail danglers - bold cuffs, braclets and bangles and cocktail rings in delightful colors. There is a significant use of pearls in their baroque natural form."

The jewellery ranges from R15,000 to R2 lakh. Gaurav Katta's collection, including western and wedding wear with a lot of Rajasthani gota work, starts at R6,000.
