Bhangrottu Incident: Lawlessness has prevailed in the state, says BJP Human Rights Cell convenor

Recalling the Bhangrottu incident of murder of a car driver by a mob on Friday night, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) human rights cell state convenor Pradeep Parmar said that under the Congress party, lawlessness had prevailed in the state with the Balh segment becoming the centre of crime.

Parmar said the issue of failure of the state government in maintaining law and order in the state would be brought to the notice of BJP led NDA government at the centre.

The incident dates back to Friday night when Rakesh (29), a resident of Nerchowk area, hit an elderly person with his car at about 10 pm near Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical college in the Bhangrottu area of Balh segment.

The victim Nikka Ram (77), a resident of village Chak of Gohar sub division, died on the spot. The relatives of the deceased started beating Rakesh with sticks and iron rods. He was taken to the Mandi zonal hospital on the same night where doctors declared him brought dead.

On Saturday, family members, relatives and villagers of Nerchowk area gheraoed the Balh police station and blocked the Chandigarh-Manali national highway 21 for more than two hours demanding arrest of the persons who killed Rakesh.

Police later arrested Rakesh alias Rakku and Anil Kumar of Chak village of Gohar sub division and presented them in the local court on Sunday. The court has sent both of them to police remand for four days.

A cross FIR has been registered under section 304A and 279 of the Indian Penal Code from Nikka Ram's side while a case under section 302, 147, 149 and 506 of IPC has been registered by a person who was travelling in the car along with Rakesh. Police are investigating the incident.
