Bharat Ratna award: Exile parliament congratulates Vajpayee

The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile that has its headquarters in Dharamsala on Friday congratulated former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee on being awarded the Bharat Ratna- India's highest civilian award.

“The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, on behalf of all the Tibetans, expresses our heartfelt congratulations to you on being awarded India's highest civilian award - The Bharat Ratna,” speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Pempa Tsering said in a letter written to the former prime minister.

“You were one of India's most outstanding Prime Ministers and one of the charismatic leaders of all times. We thank you for your support extended towards our Tibetan cause,” the letter added.

The Tibetan Parliament also congratulated Satya Prakash Malaviya, son of late Madan Mohan Malviya, in a separate letter.

“While appreciating government of India for this gesture towards your illustrious father, I take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable support for the cause of Tibet,” Tsering wrote in the Tibetan Parliament's congratulatory message.
