Additional deputy commissioner Manmohan Sharma on Friday evening flagged off a biker's rally to spread the message of polio - free India, literacy, and health.

The expedition is being organised by Rotary club of Sirmour hills. The nine bikers led by Rohit Chauhan, would be traversing a distance of 1138-km in five days through Lahul Spiti, Kullu, Manali, Chandigarh, and back.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC lauded the efforts of the youngsters for meaningfully making their adventure trip into a meaningful activity. Former president of Rotary club and chairman of medical mission Himalayas Dr SK Sablok said that he had been leading volunteer doctors to the interiors of Himachal as well as Jammu and Kashmir since 1991 to rehabilitate the physically challenged people.

The bikers would assess the situation in other parts of the Himalayas as well as generate awareness to carry out the mission of eradicating polio from the world through continued immunization, he added further.

During the expedition, the bikers would stop at different places to address the villagers residing in the remote areas of the Himalayas.
