The many health conscious tricity residents who think ice-cream is fattening and find frozen yoghurt sold across counters as too ‘unnatural’, would be delighted to learn of Red Mango, which opened its first store in Chandigarh on Friday and claims to offer “100% natural and non-fat, gluten-free” yoghurt.
Says Rahul Kumar, CEO and managing director of Red Mango in India, an 11-year-old US-based brand, “The parent company is in the US and I have the master rights to Red Mango in India. I own and run five Red Mango outlets in the Delhi-NCR region. The idea of Red Mango yoghurt is hip and trendy and I am sure that youngsters would love to walk in our store, press the lever and fill a cup with their favourite flavour.”
To top the yoghurts are 36 kinds of toppings including fresh fruits, cereals and berries. “Red Mango offers yoghurt that is 100% natural, non-fat and containing almost 100 calories for every 120 grams of it. The product has no artificial sweeteners and is certified gluten-free, fortified with a probiotic that is good for a healthy immune system,” says Rahul, adding that most artificial frozen yoghurts have sugar with modified food starch.
Apart from yoghurt, the outlet also serves fresh fruit smoothies, yoghurt parafaits and probiotic iced teas. Rahul adds that since the store’s yoghurt is calcium and protein-rich, it would be a healthy choice for women. The product is sold at 89 paise per gram.
