An attempt-to-murder case has been registered against Gokul Setia, son of Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Sirsa assembly segment, and his 15 aides, police said on Friday.

On October 15, the polling day, INLD worker Sandeep Chayal, stated to be a relative of party leader Ajay Chautala, was injured after a supporter of Gokul Setia, who is son of BJP candidate Sunita Setia, allegedly opened fire at Modia Khera village in Sirsa district. Chayal was taken to the hospital. He is stated to be out of danger now.

In his complaint to the police, Sandeep said Gokul Setia, his aide Anmol Sodhi, Munna and 10-12 other youths attacked him on the polling day and Gokul allegedly opened fire at him. Sandeep and Brijlal were injured by splinters of the bullet, it was alleged.

The police have registered a case against Gokul Setia and his 15 aides for allegedly firing at Sandeep under Sections 307, 323, 148, 149 and for violating Section 144. Sub-inspector Jagdish Parsad is investigating the case.
