BJP workers demonstrated outside the CBI office on Monday, demanding the suspension of deputy inspector general Mahesh Aggarwal because he allegedly had tried to cover up the scam in which former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal is involved.

At least 15 BJP activists including former Union minister Harmohan Dhawan were injured when the police tried to disperse them.

The policemen swung into action after they tried to break the barricades outside the CBI office. Dhawan alleged Aggarwal had shielded Bansal after the arrest of his nephew in the multi-crore corruption case. It was a “peaceful protest” and without any provocation the police used water cannons.

Aggarwal said the CBI in Chandigarh had nothing to do with the matter.htc
