A woman of Shahabad near here has made a complaint to the police that BJP leader Dr Sanjay Sharma had allegedly raped her on July 13 on the pretext of providing her a job. Sources said Sharma, his wife and compounder Gurdev Singh have been booked under various sections of the IPC, including 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating).

The sources added that the police party had raided Sharma's house to arrest him, but returned empty-handed as it was locked.

Sanjay had contested the last Vidhan Sabha elections from Ambala city seat on a BJP ticket.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had come in the contact of the accused during the last assembly elections and Gurdev had convinced her that the accused would get her a job.
She alleged that she had paid him Rs 3.2 lakh which were later returned.

The victim also alleged that Gurdev had told her that Sanjay's wife had expired and he was willing to marry her. SHO Rajbir Singh said the matter was being investigated.

It has been leant that Sharma was booked in 2010 on the complaint of same woman who had then also made similar allegations and had later retracted from her statement and the matter was compromised.
