Congress candidate Pawan Bansal on Friday accused the BJP leaders of creating obstacles in smooth functioning of Parliament so as to avoid any development.

While addressing the residents of Hallomajra, he said it was ironical that instead of participating in the debate and suggesting improvements in functioning or legislation for the general public, the BJP had created ruckus just to disrupt the functioning of institutions of public. This had been evident in Parliament as well as Chandigarh municipal corporation, Bansal said.

The Congress was committed to the public and it was its endeavour to take up all issues that concern them.

Bansal said for the city, he had contributed in taking up developmental issues. Bansal talked about the developmental works undertaken during his regime as Chandigarh MP. He referred to the improvements at the PGIMER where crores had been spent on improving infrastructure and constructing various advanced healthcare departments.

He also referred to special grants to Panjab University and various initiatives in improvement of primary healthcare and education.

A special election meeting was held in Behlana, which was attended by Madhu Bansal, wife of Bansal.
