Gian Chand Gupta, former vice-president of the state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), condemned the decision of Haryana government to impose high property tax on Group Housing Society flats in Haryana and forcing single power meters on them, here on Wednesday.

Gupta said middle-class families living in flats were mostly retired employees and were making both ends meet from their pension. “By imposing 10 times property tax on these retired people and the common man will only make their life more miserable in this time of price rise and inflation,” he said, adding that the single power meter was impractical, illogical and would pave a way for breaking the social fabric of the residents of Group Housing Societies.

BJP would not hesitate to come on the streets if these illegal orders were not withdrawn immediately, Gupta further said.
