Opposition BJP on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir assembly in protest against the National Conference-led government's alleged discrimination in the grant of model village scheme to Jammu region.

Earlier, minister for rural development Ali Mohmmad Sagar informed the House that 11 model villages have been taken up for development under the state cluster programme.

BJP members led by Jugal Kishore stood up and alleged discrimination of allotment of model villages in their constituencies in Jammu region.

"The government has distributed the model villages among themselves -- people of our constituencies have been denied seats," Kishore said.

Seeking reply from the government, they trooped close to the Well and shouted anti-government slogans against the alleged "discrimination".

As there was no response from the government, the BJP members staged a walkout from the House.
