The opposition is all set to take on the ruling Congress in the municipal corporation (MC) House meeting scheduled for May 24. They will demand the resignation of Pawan Kumar Bansal from the Lok Sabha.
On the other hand, mayor Subhash Chawla will table only four routine agenda items in the House meeting.
BJP councillor Rajesh Gupta said "The meeting will be a stormy affair as we will demand Bansal's resignation from the Lok Sabha and MC house too. The recent graft issue has really shamed the city residents and so the call 'Mr clean' proved to be the most corrupt person."
Another BJP councillor Davesh Moudgil said, "We will not allow the House to function unless our demand for Bansal's resignation is fulfilled."
"During his entire tenure, he only helped his family members and relatives to flourish their business and has ignored the city residents," Moudgil alleged.
Congress councillor Darshan Garg said, "This is not something new for the BJP-SAD councillors, who have made a routine practice to interrupt the House proceedings and most of the development agendas go unapproved. As far as Bansal's issue is concerned, the CBI is doing its investigation. Moreover, the MP has nothing to do with the issue."
Bansal was caught in the eye of a political storm after his nephew Vijay Singla was arrested recently for receiving Rs 90 lakh bribe from a senior railway officer who wanted a lucrative posting.
