BJP veteran leader cremated with honours

Former state president of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and renowned social activist lawyer Jai Ram Joshi (73) was given a tearful adieu on Saturday. He died on Friday after brief illness.

The body of Joshi was consigned to flames by his son Vineet Joshi and Saurabh Joshi at the cremation ground in Sector 25. Renowned officials, lawyers and politicians from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana were present at the cremation.

Jai Ram Joshi was working as the swayamsewak of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) for the past many years.

Haryana cabinet minister Om Prakash Dhankar, Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema, Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's special secretary Ajay Mahajan, Haryana advocate general Baldev Mahajan, Gyan Chand Gupta, member of legislative assembly (MLA), Panchkula, Latika Sharma, MLA, Kalka, Pawan Kumar Bansal, former union minister, Harmohan Dhawan, former union minister, Satyapal Jain, former member of Parliament, RSS national office bearer Prem Ji Goyal, Punjab-Chandigarh general secretary Munishwar Lal, deputy general secretary Amritsar, Chandigarh mayor Harphool Chand Kalyan and Punjabi film actors were also present.
