Women wing of the BJP has decided to go door-to-door to "reveal the real face of former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda", who has been accused of abetting the suicide of former airhostess Geetika Sharma.

Stating this at a press conference here on Monday, state president of BJP women cell Renu Sharma said: "Kanda disguised as a religious person and befooled various innocent voters of Sirsa. His real character has become public after Geetika named him in her suicide note."

She said: "Sirsa voters, especially women, feel cheated today, as Kanda had portrayed a different picture of him during canvassing and tried to build the image of a religious person by organising religious function at local Tara Baba Memorial trust. But, now, his demon face has been exposed."

She said the women cell of the BJP would launch a door-to-door campaign from August 29 to spread the word about Kanda.

Sharma said national BJP leader Smriti Irani had directed her to take such a step so that the women of Kanda's constituency could get to know his real self, which was far from reality.

She said considering the reports naming Ankita as Kanda's second wife, the former Haryana minister's Vidhan Sabha membership should be cancelled as he did not declare this in documents while contesting elections.

Demanding a CBI probe into the case, she said a high-level inquiry could expose more skeletons in Kanda's cupboard, who had amassed huge amount of wealth in the past one decade.

She also slammed chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for being tight-lipped on serious issues such as Rohtak Apna Ghar case and giving a ministerial berth to a person like Kanda in his regime.

BJP state vice-president Jagdish Chopra and senior party leader Gurdev Singh Rahi were also present at the press conference.
