Blistering heat singed Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Wednesday with Hisar turning out to be the hottest place at 43.7 degrees Celsius.
While the maximum temperature at Hisar in Haryana settled four notches above normal, Bhiwani experienced sweltering heat at 43.2 deg C, up three degrees.
Ambala was hot at 41.6 deg C, four above normal while Karnal registered a high of 40 deg C, up one notch, the MeT said here.
Chandigarh recorded hottest day of the season so far when the maximum for the first time crossed the 40 C mark to settle at 41.1 deg C, up two notches.
In Punjab, sizzling heat prevailed in Patiala, which recorded a high of 43.1 deg C, up five degrees.
Ludhiana residents also braved a hot day at 42.7 deg C, four above normal while Amritsar at 42.6 deg C, up five notches.
