Sarita Mehta, a lecturer at the Centre for Languages and Intercultural Communication (CLIC), Rice University, Houston, the US, who was in the city to release her book 'History of Medieval India' on Friday said she organised musical function and poetical symposium in the US which kept her well rooted to the Indian cultural tradition.

The book is co-authored by Sarita's father JL Mehta, author of 26 books and former professor of Panjab University (PU).

Sarita, an NRI, holds four masters degrees, including MA in fine arts, history, education from Punjab and religious education (New York), besides PhD in Hindi literature.

When asked about her passion for poetry, literature and the history, Sarita said she had co-authored a book 'History of Ancient India' earlier and one more such was in the offing.
She said as history revealed how the events happened, literature was suggestive of how it should have been. She disclosed that her poems had been published in seven anthologies of poetry books.
