Book scams: CM approves 'terms of reference' of inquiry

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved the 'terms of reference' of inquiry entrusted to justice AN Jindal (retd) of Punjab & Haryana high court to probe into the allegations relating to purchase of library books for Punjab government schools and science kits, and map masters in the state education department.

Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the chief minister's office said that the scope of the 'terms of reference' would be to inquire into the purchase/supply of library books for primary and upper-primary schools of the Punjab government by the private supplier and the language department, the purchase/supply of science kits to the government schools, to examine into the purchase/supply of map masters in the government school.

The ambit of inquiry would include the role of any person in these purchases/supply and the inquiry in this regard was to be completed within three months, added the spokesperson.
