After finding no takers during an auction for a total of 20 booths at the modern air-conditioned fish, meat and poultry product market in Sector 41C on January 13, the finance and contract committee (F&CC) on Monday decided to slash the reserve price by 30%.

However, the new date for the auction will be decided soon. During the auction on January 13, the civic body could not find any taker. However, it managed to sell chill room for Rs 18,500 per month against the reserve price of Rs 16,500.

Meanwhile, the committee had also cancelled the auction of chill room, as it was meant for the entire market. With slashing of the reserve price by 30%, the MC will fix the reserve price as 20,000 instead of Rs 32,000.

There are a total of 32 booths in the fish market. However, the officials decided to auction only 20 of these booths in the first phase.

The committee has also approved Rs 34 lakh for the maintenance of three Italian sweeping machines; an estimate for construction of RCC underground reservoir (UGR) of 1 lakh gallons capacity along with boosting arrangement at the fire station in Sector 32, Chandigarh, worth Rs 24 lakh.
