Over 30 Class12 students of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS)-35 staged a protest at Sector-17 Plaza against the recent expulsion of two of their classmates for allegedly assaulting a Class-10 student of their school.
The two students and their kin were also part of the protest. Students accused the police of booking the two without proper investigation. The protesters threatened the protests would continue until the two students were readmitted to the school.
Last Thursday, a student of Class 10, Sachin, was allegedly assaulted outside the school after school hours.
Following the incident, the school had ordered an inquiry into the incident and expelled two Class-12 students, who were also booked over the incident. One of two, however, accused Sachin of implicating them in the case. “Sachin had a spat with another person. The school expelled us without a fair probe,” he said.
The other accused said that the case had put his future on stake. “At a time when I should be studying, I spend my time shuttling between police stations and the education department to seek justice,” he said, alleging that the Sachin and his friends had, in fact, assaulted them. Education department deputy director Saroj Mittal, who visited the site of agitation, assured the protesters of a through into the issue.
