Chief parliamentary secretary

Chief parliamentary secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Wednesday candidly announced that her husband former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu would be the best choice to lead Punjab after formation of a government of BJP Punjab breaking away from SAD, post 2017 assembly polls in state.

“He is sincere, honest and non-corrupt and people have faith in him, and there is positive perception in his favour, we both (Navjot and her husband) are party workers and ready to take any responsibility given by the party,” she said talking to select journalists on the sidelines of a function organised to accord welcome to newly appointed union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla.

Suggesting his party to break the alliance with BJP’s alliance partner SAD in Punjab, Sidhu said there are lots of shortcomings in the functioning of the coalition government and the BJP was capable of running the state alone. “Our party should get out of problematic alliance with SAD and stop making compromises,” he further suggested.

Further talking to media said that what her husband spoke during campaigning in Haryana assembly polls was according to the brief given by the party high command and he (Sidhu) would come to Punjab only when he is asked to do by the high command.

Giving reasons for breaking alliance with SAD, Navjot said, “SAD always has been belittling BJP workers, there have been instances when we were beaten and even now they are not listened.”
