In separate trap cases, the Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Wednesday caught an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and an inspector red-handed while accepting bribe. Both are posted in the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation.
A VB spokesperson said ASI Ajit Singh, posted at Cheema village in Sangrur district, was caught on the complaint of Jagtar Singh of Shero village (Sangrur), who alleged that the ASI was threatening to implicate him in a false case and was demanding a bribe of Rs 3000.
In another case, the VB arrested inspector Raman Kumar. The VB said the inspector was caught accepting Rs 7000 as bribe. The complainant, Varinder Kumar of Hazipur village in Hoshiarpur district, alleged that Raman was demanding bribe to verify bills of paddy procurement.
