The construction work of a high-level bridge (measuring 182.4 feet length and 42 feet wide) worth `3.5 crore being constructed at Jagatpura village in district will be completed soon.
Deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu, while reviewing the progress work at the site on Friday, said this, adding the bridge would ease the traffic coming from the Jagatpura- Bakarpura road side, and nearby 30 villages.
Sidhu said the SAS Nagar district finance officer had been asked to release some more funds so that 5% of the remaining work could be completed in time. Earlier, the bridge was declared unsafe due to its poor condition.
The decision to make new high-level bridge was taken after people complained about the problem they faced after following the route through Chandigarh towards SAS Nagar, which in turned caused wastage of time, money and efforts. The bridge has been constructed by using modern construction techniques, said the DC.
