The Punjab education department has tied up with the British Council to train the English language teachers in government schools to improve their teaching standards.

Education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka stated here on Monday that the project aimed at replacing the "traditional monotonous teaching with the modern innovative activity-based teaching and learning".

The department would impart training to 3,000 master trainers who, in turn, would share the teaching skills with other teachers of classes 9 and 10 across the state in a phased manner.
