In an embarrassment yet again for the UT administration, the wife of a senior bureaucrat allegedly thrashed the personal assistant (PA) of her husband in full public view at the UT deputy commissioner’s office here on Wednesday. The wife is an officer of the Indian Revenue Service.

This is the second incident in less than a month when the DC office is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

UT deputy commissioner Mohammed Shayin had on November 14 lodged an FIR with the Chandigarh police against unidentified persons for circulating objectionable pictures of him along with a woman officer on a social networking application.

The DC had claimed that the pictures were morphed. The report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) is awaited on this.

According to sources, the wife of the senior officer reached the Sector 17 office at 11am in a personal car. The woman went to her husband’s PA and got into a heated argument following which she repeatedly slapped the PA.

The entire incident was watched by the stunned staff of the senior officer but no one came forward to help the PA. The incident lasted for about half an hour. After the assault, the PA left the office and did not return for the rest of the day. The wife of the officer too left the place after sitting in the PA’s room for 10 minutes.

The woman chose a day when her husband was out of the city. The wife of the officer had also come to the DC office on Tuesday but could not find the PA so she left.

When contacted, UT adviser KK Sharma said, “I am not aware of the incident.”

Meanwhile, officers and staff posted with different departments of the UT administration could be seen discussing the issue.
