Senior vice-president of HSGMC (as hoc) Didar Singh Nalwi said instead of issuing a ‘hukamnama’ (edict), the Akal Takht jathedar should convene a Panthic convention to take a neutral and popular opinion on the issue.
“Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh should accept the fact that the HSGMC was a legal entity and avoid issuing such directives. Rather, he should have asked the armed Akalis to evacuate Haryana gurdwaras to maintain sanctity of shrines,” he said.
Nalwi said the HSGMC may consider any appeal by the Akal Takht but that does not mean that the Sikhs of Haryana would leave their legal right.
Moreover, as the formation of the HSGMC had been challenged in the Punjab and Haryana high court, the jathedar should desist from making such statements, he added.
