If you are suffering from any lifestyle disease and are wary of eating outside due to restrictions imposed by doctor or due to weight gain, the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) has come up with a solution.
Come next year and CITCO plans to introduce special diet food on its menu in its two premier hotels — Mountview Hotel and Shivalikview Hotel — for people coming for dining or those staying on the premises.
For the purpose, CITCO has involved a dietician from the Government Medial College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, and have prepared a detailed plan. The training of CITCO staff has also started and they are being guided to prepare dishes which will be part of the special diet menu comprising salads and soups.
Sources in the CITCO say the special diet menu is being planned keeping in view how diet conscious people have become now. Earlier, people did not mind eating anything when they used to go out for dining. But now people are health cautious and avoid eating food high in calories. People are also careful about keeping a check on their weight. The special diet plan will take care of all apprehensions the customers have.
Giving details, CITCO managing director Kavita Singh said, “We are working on the special diet plan and for the purpose we have already shared recipes that will be part of the menu. But our job does not end by just listing items in the menu. Staff will also be trained to explain what the benefits of the special diet menu are and how is it prepared.”
The staff of Mountview Hotel is already under training and are being educated how to convince customer that the hotel is offering food which is not harmful for the health. The scheme will also be extended to Shivalikview Hotel and by next year, the special diet menu will be available in both the premier hotels.
Special packages being worked out
CITCO is also planning various new initiatives to combat competition being offered by different five-star hotels coming in the city. Special room packages and other offers are being worked out to attract customers. CITCO is also exploring tie up with the Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
