In a relief to the teachers, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday decided that candidates who had cleared the Haryana teachers eligibility test (HTET) in 2013 are eligible for the post of elementary teachers that were advertised in 2012.
The Haryana government, during a previous hearing, had told the court that the Haryana teachers eligibility test (HTET) conducted for the recruitment of junior basic teachers (JBT) was not conducted in 2012. But it would consider those candidates for the advertisement of 9,000 teachers issued the same year, who qualified the test in the 2013.
The court orders came on the petition by those candidates who cleared the HTET in 2013, but had not been considered by the government earlier for these posts.
The petitioner had alleged that had the test been conducted in 2012, they would have cleared it and sought the court’s intervention in this regard.
