BJP national spokesman Capt Abhimanyu on Tuesday accused the Haryana government of covering up over `10,000 crore external development charges scam.
Addressing mediapersons here, he alleged that about `10,000 crore were pending for collection from the builders at cheap interest of 12% while about `20,000 crore were lying unutilised with the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) while the home buyers, mainly in Gurgaon area, were living with poor civic amenities such as sewerage, drainages, inadequate power supply, absence of fire safety measures, poor roads and absence of greenbelts.
Alleging that the Congress government headed by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had not acted against the builders who were given an opportunity to pay the EDC in installments over three years and which they still had not deposited. Terming it biggest scam in Haryana, Capt Abhimanyu further alleged that it was besides the alleged scams pertaining to SEZ, CLU and land acquisition.
Accusing Hooda government of spending about `1.5 crore daily on advertisements to glorify him (Hooda) and his government, the BJP leader said if elected to power, the BJP would order a probe into this matter, especially the role of bureaucrats who were acting like Congress workers and not officials.
