Reminding chief minister Parkash Singh Badal of his commitment against vendetta politics, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh on Thursday denounced the filing of a 'false case' against former Congress MLA Gurpreet Kangar on charge of attempted murder.
In a statement issued here, Capt Singh said the false case was slapped on two-time Rampura Phul MLA Gurpreet Kangar and 21 others immediately after the results were declared on March 6 at the behest of his political opponents.
He said a similar case was registered against Kangar on January 11 earlier but after investigations, the case was cancelled.
However, immediately after the results were declared on March 6, the case was reopened against Kangar and others at the behest of his opponents, Capt Singh said.
He said despite Kangar joining investigations, police misled the court that he was not cooperating with the investigation which resulted in rejection of his bail plea.
The Congress leader hoped that the chief minister would take note of this case as also other similar cases and asks the police to desist from such vendetta and victimisation lest the Congressmen were forced to come on roads to seek justice.
