Former Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira on Tuesday said he disagrees with the logic handed out by party's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh that mobilisation of workers in Punjab is more important than sitting on a dharna outside Parliament.
Heaping praise on party president Sonia Gandhi, Khaira in a press statement said Amarinder should "correct his priorities" as Sonia and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi have mounted a vitriolic attack on the Modi government to seek the resignation of its "corrupt" leaders.
"The logjam in Parliament has put the NDA government in a very embarrassing position, which is paying rich political dividends to the Congress. Unfortunately, the deputy leader of the party in the Lok Sabha has chosen a parallel programme to hold rallies in Punjab," Khaira
"There is not an iota of doubt that there is a dire need to mobilise people against the draconian, anti-people and "goonda-raj" of the Badal family in Punjab but it could have easily been postponed till the end of Lok Sabha session," he added.
Khaira attacked Captain's logic that mobilising people against Badals in Punjab is more important than holding dharnas outside Parliament.
"Mere rallies are not enough and he (Capt) should lead a pin pointed mass agitation against the corrupt regime otherwise the general perception that he is holding rallies to pressure the party high command for the post of state chief would gain more weight," said the former MLA.
