Car hits elderly woman, dies

A senior citizen died after she was hit by a car at the Kalagram light point on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Ram Piari, a resident of Manimajra.

The accused driver dropped the injured woman to hospital, but escaped from there. Police said the incident took place in the afternoon when Ram Piari and her daughter-in-law were crossing the road. Suddenly, a rashly driven car (DL-1CJ-4470) hit Ram Piari and left her badly injured. The accused driver of the said car rushed her to General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, where Piari was declared brought dead by the doctors on duty.

The doctors then informed the police about the incident.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against the unidentified driver.

In another incident, Rajinder of Mauli Jagran alleged that the driver of an unidentified black-coloured car hit and run him near the Meat Market, Sector 21. He was injured and admitted to Government Multu-Speciality Hospital in Sector 16.
