A 40-year-old rickshaw puller was killed over a petty dispute regarding utensils in Mauli Jagran on Tuesday.
The victim, Munshi Ram, had to face the wrath of carpenter Thakur after a verbal spat between the two. Thakur slit Munshi's throat with a carpenter's blade.
Police said Thakur had accused Munshi of stealing his utensils on Monday. Thakur, who works at a carpenter's workshop near the Housing Board light point, Manimajra, was a friend of Munshi, who also resided near that workshop. The argument was resolved between the two after the intervention of a common friend.
Around 10 am on Tuesday, Thakur again went to Munshi and started asking for his utensils. Munshi claimed that he did not have any utensils following which an argument took place between the two.
Thakur attacked on Munshi's throat with a blade and he died on the spot.
Munshi's daughters and area dwellers raised the alarm after seeing him lying in a pool of blood, following which the police was informed about the incident.
Munshi's body was sent for a post-mortem at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. Thakur was arrested on the spot.
The victim is survived by two daughters, Reshma, 7, and Ruksar, 9. His wife died a few years back.
A case of murder has been registered.
