In pursuance with an order of the Punjab and Haryana high court, medical examination of Dera Sacha Sauda follower Hans Raj Chauhan was conducted at Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 (GMSH-16), here on Thursday. He was later sent to PGI for hormonal test.
Chauhan had alleged that he along with nearly 400 dera followers was castrated at the behest of Sirsa-based dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Following the high court order, a panel of three doctors - one from GMSH-16 and two from Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 here - was formed. A bench headed by justice Mahesh Grover had directed that Chauhan should get medically examined at GMSH-16 on October 18.
Chauhan was accompanied by nearly 10 persons. The report of medical examination will be sent to the court in a sealed cover.
Chauhan, a resident of Haryana's Fatehabad district, had alleged that dera doctors castrated him and others by creating an illusion of being closer to God in case they offered themselves for castration. Chauhan claimed to have a list of 166 such followers with him and said there was threat to his life.
