Man robbed of Rs 1,200 at knifepoint at Sector 16
Chandigarh: A resident of Bapu Dham Colony was allegedly robbed of Rs 1,200 in cash at knifepoint near Shanti Kunj in Sector 16 on Monday evening.
The victim, Golu, alleged that while he was crossing the stretch near Shanti Kunj, which is close to the houses of several senior UT and Punjab officers, a miscreant came from behind and flashed a knife at him.
The miscreant then snatched Rs 1,200 from him, after injuring his arm when he tried to retaliate, he alleged.
The police have registered a case of robbery at Sector 17 police station in the matter. The incident has once again exposed the Chandigarh Police's failure in tackling the snatching menace. There are CCTV cameras installed at the Sector 16-17 traffic intersection, just next to the Shanti Kunj. Yet, the police were unable to identify the miscreant.
