CBI charges traffic cop with graft

The Central Bureau of Investigation, on Saturday, filed a charge sheet against head constable of Chandigarh Police (traffic) Paramjit Singh for accepting a bribe of `1,000.

On September 9, Singh was booked for demanding the money from an auto driver, Narottam, near Kishan Bhawan roundabout, Sector 35, for allegedly allowing the latter to ply his vehicle, which bore an SAS Nagar registration plate, within the city.

After Narottam refused to pay, his vehicle and registration papers were seized, following which he had to pay a fine of `4,000 to get them back.
