A day after it declared the All-India Pre-Medical Entrance Test results, Central Board of Secondary Education has (CBSE) uploaded the final answer key of the exam on its website. The board has admitted to its errors in three questions and has awarded four bonus marks for each of the incorrect question in the already declared results.

With this, the pre-medical test became the third major national entrance exam in which errors have been of ficially accepted.

Recently, IITs admitted that four erroneous questions in paper 1 of JEE ( Advanced ) had two answers each, while JEE (Main) had one incorrect question in its offline and three questions in its online exam which were compensated for by CBSE.

Howeverr, city-based academicians continue to remain unconvinced and have demanded that the board compensate must for all its errors, especially in the biology section of the paper.

Calling the board’s act arbitrary, academician Arvind Goyal said the board had ignored five questions that deserved the bonus marks. “We will move the Panjab and Hayana high court soon to seek relief for these questions,” he said. Students were distributed four sets of question papers in AIPMT, each set having same questions but with different serial numbers.

In set R, the students got bonus marks for a question no 28 (biology section) and question no 170 and 175, both from chemistry section. Question no 28 of Set R had a wrong diagram, while question no 170, relating to ‘ionic radii’ had all options incorrect. Academicians however observed that the real surprise were the four marks allotted to question no 175, which they say it did not deserve.

“There was nothing wrong with the said question-an intelligent student could have solved it,” claimed local chemistry teacher Ananya Ganguly.

In the chemistry section the set R, questions no 152, 154 and 170 were blunders but the board awarded the bonus point only for last question, the experts claim.Meanwhile, the serial number of those awarded the bonus points in set S is 39, 139 and 158, while in set P and Q, their serial numbers are 178, 55 and 61 and 128, 10 and 15, respectively.
