A day after two youth armed with a.32-bore pistol and a knife shot a shop owner and injured his brother and their helper in the Sector 22 market on Thursday night, a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory examined the scene of crime and collected samples of the blood splattered on the spot.
The pistol, knife and cartridges used in the crime, along with the blood samples, have been handed over to the investigating officer of the case.
On the directions of the Chandigarh SSP, a special investigation team under the supervision of DSP (crime) Satbir has been constituted to look into the case. The police have announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for anyone who provides information about the assailants. The name of the informer will be kept confidential.
In an effort to identify the two assailants, the police also examined the CCTV cameras installed at the Aroma light point, the ISBT-17 roundabout, the Sector 22-23 light point and Kisan Bhawan.
Kailash Chand was killed on the spot in the attack. His brother Madan Lal and helper Tilak Raj, who had been working at the shop for over 30 years, are admitted at the PGI with serious injuries.
