Hosts Chandigarh thrashed Himachal Pradesh 51-27 in the boys’ section of the 31st Youth Basketball Championship that started at the indoor basketball stadium in the Sector-42 Sports Complex on Tuesday.
For the winners, Amit top scored with 24 points while Gaurav chipped in with seven points. For the losing side, Rohit (10pts) and Sahil (7pts) were the main scorers.
On the other hand, Karnataka got the better of Uttar Pradesh by six points (76-70) in a contrasting affair.
For the winners, Dev Mishra (23pts) and Guru Prasad (18pts) were the main scorers, while Dheeraj (27pts) and Kabir (12pts) scored for Uttar Pradesh.
In another encounter of the section, Punjab beat Rajasthan 91-58, with Rahul (23 pts) and Ravi Mehla (13pts) being the main scorers for the winners. For Rajasthan, Abbas Ali top scored with 15 points.
In the last match of the boys’ section, Delhi defeated Haryana 81-56. Hansraj (21) and Sombir (20) were the main scorers for the Delhi outfit, while Sonu Kumar (17) and Deepak (12) scored for Haryana.
In the girls’ section, Punjab eves complemented the good work done by their male counterparts earlier in the day by beating Uttar Pradesh 68-62.
For the winners, Komalpreet Kaur and Rajandeep Kaur contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Pooja Yadav (12) and Anjana (17) were the main scorers for the UP outfit.
In the other matches of the category, Tamil Nadu got the better of Chhattisgarh with a 66-56 scoreline, while Madhya Pradesh ended the challenge posed by West Bengal 52-18.
