Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) on Saturday celebrated the inaugural event of "Commemorating the Legacy of Le Corbusier, 50 Years After the Master".
It was presided over by the chief guest, adviser to the UT administrator, Vijay Kumar Dev. He shared his experience of being overwhelmed by "the City Beautiful's planning'" and numerous buildings designed by Le Corbusier.
Hafeez Contractor, the eminent architect, guest of honour and speaker for the evening, while delivering the audio-visual presentation, elaborated upon the evolution of the city and upon his own high-tech architectural works.
A panel discussion on 'Challenges of Making Chandigarh a Smart City' was also held as part of the festivities. It was chaired by architect Rajindra Kumar and the speakers on the occasion were Hafeez Contractor, R Srinivas (head, metropolitan and urban territories div, TCPO, New Delhi), architect Kapil Setia (chief architect, chandigarh administration), Erric Janssevne (environment engineer, New Zealand) along with the principal, CCA, Pradeep Bhagat.
The discussion was an attempt to debate upon and address certain critical approaches to make Chandigarh 'smart city' and assist the city in its search for holistic solutions to integrate smart components within present development pattern.
Vijay Dev lauded the contribution of the college to the city. On this occasion, a cultural programme was held by the students of CCA and the prizes for the academic and co-curricular achievements were distributed to the students and staff. The grand inaugural event was concluded with vote of thanks by the principal.
