Moved by the death of a friend’s dog due to improper food, engineer Manish Maheshwari, 25, quit his job and started providing tiffin service for pet dogs.

Maheshwari first started his venture in Ludhiana in the beginning of the year and moved to Zirakpur along with his brother two months ago. They now cater to dog owners in Zirakpur and Panchkula.

Providing tiffin service for pet dogs is already a popular venture in the metropolitan cities.

“After being moved by the death of my friend’s dog due to improper food, I earned an online international degree in food for pet dogs and cats and then launched this venture,” said Maheshwari.

The venture provides fresh cooked food once a day. The meal is as per the requirement of the client — vegetarian or non-vegetarian. The price range is `2,300 per month for vegetarian diet and `2,300 and `2,500 for non-vegetarian food.

In just a short span, the service has made a huge impact on dog lovers, who have opted for it. The service has been mostly opted by working professionals and vegetarian families.

Rohit Kumar, a resident of Zirakpur, says, “When I first saw the advertisement, I was a little amused. But now it has been a month that I have opted for the service. Ours is a vegetarian family and we have two dogs at home. It looked criminal not offering them non-vegetarian food, so I opted for this service and the dogs have not only grown happy but also healthy.”

The customers availing the service say the food is served in use-and-throw tiffins and from brown rice, vegetables and meat cooked in olive oils is served. Also, the service is available throughout the year and even if owners are away, they can comfortably leave the dog with caretakers or servants, without getting bothered for the pet’s food.

Sanjay Sood, another client of the tiffin service, says, “We are a business family and remain busy with work. Dogs love meat and it is not possible for us to go everyday and buy stuff, as neither we have the time nor the energy to buy it. This service is for us and I long wanted something like this to be available.”

Maheshwari further claims that the meal provided by them are salt- and chemicals-free, and the packaged based on the breed of the dog.

The brothers would soon be expanding their business across the tricity.
