Chandigarh police on Saturday booked a father-son duo for blackmailing a XX-year-old woman by threatening to circulating her objectionable video in case she failed to take back a dowry complaint against them.
She submitted a complaint to the police about a month back following which the case was forwarded to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell.
The woman had claimed that her husband Rajinder and his father Om Prakash, both hailing from Karnal in Haryana, used to continuously threaten her. The woman also alleged that father-son duo had submitted a CD containing her objectionable photos in a local court in January to show that the complainant had an extra-marital affair. The woman also claimed that the accused had morphed her pictures with another man. The court had meanwhile not accepted the CD.
The police have booked the duo under sections 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) and 67-A of the Information Technology Act.
The victim and Rajinder had married in 2009 and following five years of marriage the victim filed a dowry case against her husband and father in-law in September, 2014.
