Chandigarh happiest city in India: Survey

People of Chandigarh are happiest in the country while those of Guwahati are least happy, a survey said.The survey conducted by a multi-national company dealing in consumer goods showed, amongst the metros, people in Delhi are the happiest while those in Mumbai are the least happy.

"Chandigarh is the happiest city of all and Guwahati is the least happy. Among metros, Delhi is the happiest and Mumbai is least happy," said the 'Life is Good' Happiness Study.

It further added "In North, which is the happiest zone overall, Chandigarh is the happiest city and Jaipur is the least. In East, which is overall the least happy zone, Patna is the happiest city and Guwahati the least."

Chandigarh is followed by Lucknow, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru in the top five slots.

According to the survey: "People of these cities are broadly happy with the amount of time they get to spend with family and quality of relationship they share with their friends and family. They are also happy with the kind of control they have over their life with respect to doing what they want and taking decisions for themselves."

The bottom five slots were taken up by Guwahati, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kochi and Hyderabad.

The survey was conducted in 16 cities among an average sample of 150 people from all socio economic backgrounds.
