As many as 5,138 candidates appeared for the entrance test for BA/BCom LLB (hons) five-year integrated courses in various institutes of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Saturday.
The entrance test was conducted at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) and its regional centres in Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana. The admissions for the BA/BCom LLB (hons) in PU are based on this entrance test and the marks in the qualifying examination. The qualifying examination and the entrance test each carry 50% weightage.
Apart from those foreign nationals/NRIs, there are 120 seats each in BA LLB (hons) five-year integrated course and BCom LLB (hons) five-year integrated course at UILS, PU campus. There are 87 seats of BA LLB (hons) five-year integrated course at UILS, PU regional centre, Ludhiana. There are 60 open seats in BA LLB (hons) at UILS, Swami Sarvanand Giri regional centre Hoshiarpur.
PU spokesperson informed that 5,749 students had applied for the entrance test and 89.37% of them appeared. As many as 21 centres were set up in Chandigarh to conduct the examination. Last year, about 4,400 candidates had appeared and the attendance was 91.1%. He said that he increased number of applicants indicates that PU is emerging as a preferred option among the students.
