With city receiving 2mm rain on Saturday, the maximum temperature came down considerably on Sunday.
According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, due to the rain, the maximum temperature came down to 34.5 degrees Celsius, which is four notches below normal.
However, the minimum temperature, recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, was normal. Cool breeze in the morning and evening provided relief to people from the hot weather.
Similar conditions will continue till Wednesday, the Met officials have predicted, while attributing the showers to western disturbances. There is a possibility of rain on Monday as well.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the next 48 hours in the region,” the centre said. The centre has also issued a special warning of thunderstorms with wind speed exceeding 45 kilometre per hour at isolated places during the next 24 hours in Punjab and Haryana.
It will be followed by partly cloudy sky and light rain till Wednesday. The maximum temperature during these days will settle around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 24 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, neighbouring Ambala was cooler by six degrees Celsius than normal at 33.5 degress Celsius.
